Ron Paul’s Biography
Ron Paul, born Ronald Ernest Paul, was born in August of 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ron Paul attended both Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine before entering into the United States Air Force and serving as a flight surgeon during the Vietnam War. Ron Paul began a medical practice in 1968 after moving to Texas from Pennsylvania with his wife Carol. Doctor Ron Paul has delivered more than four thousand babies as a specialist in the fields of obstetrics and gynecology. Ron Paul maintained his medical practice in Brazoria County in Texas for many years. Ron Paul, who is a strong advocate for pro-life and against abortion, has five children with his wife Carol, Ron Paul is the proud grandfather of seventeen grandchildren.
Ron Paul is in his tenth term as a Republican United States Congressman, hailing from Lack Jackson in Texas. He has been a member of the United States House of Representatives while representing the 14th congressional district in Texas since 1997. Before that, Ron Paul represented the 22nd congressional district of Texas two separate times; between 1976 and 1977, and between 1979 and 1985. In 1988, Ron Paul managed to place third in the presidential election as a nominee for the Libertarian party, although he was a registered Republican at the time.
Ron Paul has stood by his ideals for limited-government throughout his time spent as a member of Congress between the 1970s and the 1980s, despite the fact that they were not very popular in Washington. He was one of only four congressmen for the Republican Party to endorse Ronald Reagan as a presidential candidate in 1976. Congressman Ron Paul served on the House Banking committee, and was a strong advocate for a sound monetary policy. Ron Paul was also an outspoken critic for the inflationary measures held by the Federal Reserve.
Ron Paul’s House seat was voluntarily relinquished in 1984 when he returned to his medical practice. Ron Paul is an unwavering advocate for pro-family and pro-life values, an ideal that shows in his medical practice as an obstetrician and a gynecologist.
In 1997, Doctor Ron Paul returned to the United States Congress, this time in order to represent the 14th congressional district of Texas. He continues to serve on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, as well as the House Committee on Financial Services. Ron Paul still continues to advocate dramatic reductions in the federal government’s size, as well as a return to the original principles of the constitution. Ron Paul has often been referred to as a champion for the Constitution based on these beliefs. Ron Paul truly does personify everything that the Founding Fathers felt was ideal.
