Ron Paul’s Record

Ron Paul has a record that he can truly stand behind, as he is consistent in his voting, and has strong morals and principles regarding many important facets of the United States government and our civil liberties as Americans. Ron Paul refuses to vote for neither higher taxes or tax increases, nor has he ever voted for a budget that was unbalanced. Ron Paul has never voted for Federal control over gun ownership, and against the Federal Government’s war on drugs. Ron Paul has never voted to raise congressional pay, nor does he take government-funded junkets. Ron Paul does not believe in increasing the power of the Executive branch of the government, nor has he ever voted to do so.

On the other hand, Ron Paul has voted against the Patriot Act and other bills pertaining to electronic surveillance, control over guns and other issues pertaining to the Government’s strict control over our security and privacy. He has voted against measures to create more funding for the Iraq War and to keep soldiers overseas. He has voted against all measures pertaining to the continuation of the Iraq war on a consistent basis. He has voted against the regulation of the Internet. Earlier this year he voted toward a bill that expressed the disinterest of the House of Representatives in Bush’s planned continuation of the War in Iraq.

Ron Paul voted to lower the interest rates on student loans, speaking to his advocacy for education. He also voted for a bill that would allow for lower prescription drug prices for Medicare recipients by allowing the Government to negotiate directly with the companies creating those medications. Ron Paul also voted against a bill that would allow for more funding for the Iraq War while rejecting a specific timetable for removing troops. Ron Paul has shown serious consistency pertaining to voting against all measures relating to the Iraq War, and the Federal Government’s control via electronic surveillance, gun control and so on.

Ron Paul does not participate in the congressional pension program, but instead has vowed to return a portion of his personal annual congressional office budget to the United States treasury every year. As a Congressman, Ron Paul is responsible for introducing far more substantial legislation every year than any other single member of Congress.

Ron Paul is a Congressman who has shown consistency in voting against strict Governmental control, and voting for bills relating to restoring power to the people. Ron Paul’s ideal government functions much in the same way that our forefathers had intended it, which is why he is often referred to as a champion for the Constitution. Ron Paul is a presidential candidate with strong morals and unwavering principles, which is exactly what our country needs.
